Hostal Encanto La Rusa, Baracoa, Cuba, small, in Baracoa, intimate and welcoming; built on the beach, the hotel catches the pleasant sea breezes and offers an immense panorama of blue waters from its windows.
This legendary little hotel was established by a Russian émigré (princess) and former dancer, Mima Rubenskaya or "La Rusa de Baracoa". She had settled in Baracoa after fleeing the Revolution in 1917 at age six.
Baracoa provides visitors with the unique opportunity to observe and admire the singular topography of its Yunque, a high, flat-topped hill that caught the attention of Admiral Christopher Columbus when he arrived in the area in 1492. The historical quarter the Matachín and La Punta Fortresses, are witnesses to the Spanish presence in the Villa.
From the hotel you can visit the Duaba Farm, where the abundance of fruit trees create the perfect scenario to enjoy Cuba’s criolla cuisine, observe countryside traditions and taste the magical cacao fruit. Very close to the hotel is Playa Miel (Miel Beach), exhibiting its grey-colored sands.
